ITRA (International Technical Rescue Association)
International training in rope rescue techniques. The training is intended for people connected with the subject of the high-altitude rescue of the PSP, TSO, etc., with experience in working on ropes – high-altitude rescuers, GOPR, TOPR, IRATA high-altitude technicians, etc.
During the course, knowledge is imparted on how to rescue injured persons and how to create safe conditions for working at height.
The training consists of theoretical and practical parts and ends with an exam conducted by an independent assessor of the ITRA Organization.
The validity of the certificate is 3 years.
There are three levels of certification:
- Level 1 – Responder
As a member of a rescue team, the trainee has basic knowledge of rope techniques and, with minimal supervision, can respond to incidents not requiring advanced techniques. He can use a stretcher, build basic positions and mechanical gain systems, and learn how to reach the injured person in hard-to-reach places. - Level 2 – Technician
A technician at this level is treated as a specialist on the rescue team. He has advanced knowledge of station construction, elevated station points (tripods) and complex mechanical gain systems. He can pick up an unsecured casualty from hard-to-reach areas and prepare stretchers and rigging for transport in multiple directions. - Level 3 – Advanced
A technician at this level is competent in coordinating rescue operations and has knowledge of Level 1 and Level 2. He is able to carry out advanced operations of a high degree of difficulty requiring the use of elaborate systems for transporting a casualty, among others, i.e. tyroleans or advanced elevated stance points, often going beyond the guidelines in the manuals of the equipment he uses.
Duration: 6 days (5 days training + 1-day exam)
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older,
- good physical condition,
- no contraindications to working at height:
– heart disease/ chest pains;
– high blood pressure;
– epilepsy, fainting spells;
– fear of heights, dizziness;
– balance disorders;
– impairment of limb function;
– alcohol or drug addiction;
– mental disorders and diseases;
– diabetes mellitus.
