The course is aimed at people who want to work in the wind energy industry, participating in the construction, operation and servicing of offshore wind turbines.
Basic training to enable participants to support and care for themselves and others working in the industry by having knowledge and skills in:
- first aid,
- working at height,
- lifting and moving objects,
- fire protection,
- the ability to evacuate, rescue and assist the injured,
- survival at sea.
The basic training package for BST GWO offshore consists of modules:
- WAH Working at Heights – covers the principles of: use of fall protection equipment, evacuation from a wind turbine, and learns about evacuation and rescue techniques on a wind turbine.
- FA First Aid First Aid – includes providing safe and effective first aid.
- FAW Fire Awareness Fire protection – covers the basic principles of fire protection, fire prevention, firefighting procedures and the use of firefighting equipment.
- MH Manual Handling – includes the proper performance of manual handling work.
- SS Sea Survival Survival at sea – covers offshore survival techniques and operations between the coast and the wind turbine.
WINDA ID
Before taking the course, you will need to set up a personal profile in the WINDA database winda.globalwindsafety.org. After registration, an individual WINDA ID will be generated. This is required to complete the training course.
Duration of training: 5 days
Validity period of the training: 2 years
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older,
- valid medical certificate to work at heights above 3m,
- no contraindications to work at height:
– heart disease/ chest pains;
– high blood pressure;
– epilepsy, fainting spells;
– fear of heights, dizziness;
– balance disorders;
– impairment of limb function;
– alcohol or drug addiction;
– mental disorders and diseases;
– diabetes mellitus.
