SPRAT (Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians)..
International training for working at height in rope access under the American system. The course is aimed at anyone who wants to work in rope access at sea, on land, and wind farms. SPRAT is one of the oldest organisations for rope access technicians.
The validity of the certificate is 3 years.
There are 3 levels of certification:
- Level 1 – Trainee technician
The Technician can perform rope access activities on a limited basis and always under the supervision of a Level 3 qualified person. - Level 2 – Rope Access Technician- Specialist.
The Technician has knowledge and skills in the full range of rope access. In addition, he prepares positions and, if necessary, participates in rescue operations conducted under the supervision of a Level 3 specialist.
Requirements:
– a minimum of 6 months experience at Level 1,
– documented a minimum of 500 hours of work as a technician with Level 1 qualifications. - Level 3 – Rope Access Technician – Supervisor.
The specialist has the competencies and knowledge acquired at Levels 1, 2 and 3. He is responsible for the employees under him and for the work performed at height. The supervising rope access technician also holds a current first aid certificate.
Requirements:
– a minimum of 6 months experience at level 2,
– Documented a minimum of 500 hours of work as a technician with Level 2 qualifications.
Direct progression to Level 2 or Level 3 is available.
Requirements for direct progression to Level 2:
- working 500h on ropes,
- presentation of work experience on ropes,
- completion of the Direct Entry Application and payment of the application fee.
Requirements for direct passage to Level 3:
- working 1000h on the ropes,
- presentation of professional experience in working on ropes,
- L3 level certification from another organisation, such as IRATA,
- letters of recommendation from a work manager or client,
- completion of the Conversion Application and payment of the application fee.
Duration: 5-6 days (4-5 training days + 1 exam day)
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older,
- good physical condition,
- No contraindications to work at height.
